Cirque Du Freak Pointless Game! (and template to create your own games!)
Based on the popular game show ‘Pointless’, this resource is perfect for use as a whole lesson resource, enrichment option, or revision tool. Editable, so that you can change to any other topic or change questions. (I’ve also added a blank template so that you can make your own games from scratch). Containing almost 30 slides of sound clips, interesting tasks, and suitably challenging questions, this resource is effective at both promoting engagement and enhancing learning. There are several full rounds of questions to build or revisit knowledge of characters, plot, and themes in ‘Cirque Du Freak.’

Churches - Big Quiz and Extended Activity!
In this lesson, students demonstrate their understanding of churches and what happens in them.
Children participate in a 15 question quiz (with answers provided) to showcase their understanding of:
-The features of churches;
-Symbols found in churches;
-Different denominations of Christianity and how their churches differ.
Children then produce a non-chronological report detailing all that they have learnt about churches. The resource pack contains a comprehensive 23-slide Powerpoint, alongside all of the planning resources needed for the report.
In the past, I have used this lesson with children from across Key Stage 2 - the key learning is aligned with NC expectations for RE, and also the content prescribed by most diocese regions. All images are licensed for commercial use, and are cited on the final slide.

Picasso Cubism Self-Portraits Project - Lessons 5 and 6!
These engaging and purposeful lessons guide children towards creating their own Pablo Picasso cubism-style self portraits.
Included in this resource pack are the fifth and sixth lessons in a series of six lessons. They guide learners through the process of both creating and evaluating their compositions.
This fifth lesson helps children to:
-Understand the key term ‘composition’ and learn about their creative freedom to organise concepts on the page;
-Create their compositions, following clear and precise instructions (provided);
-Learn about different types of brushstrokes that were utilised by Picasso for effect within his own cubism self-portraits;
This final lesson helps children to:
-Act as ‘art critics’, expressing their likes and dislikes about art compositions;

Spring - William Blake - KS2 Reading Comprehension Lesson!
This whole class reading session aims to develop children’s fluency and comprehension skills through reading William Blake’s 'Spring.’
The reading is followed by a series of activities aiming to develop comprehension skills through VIPERS activities: vocabulary, inference, prediction, explanation, retrieval, and summarising. It also contains a vocabulary check and key contextual information to clarify any unfamiliar language and subject matter.
The tasks are comprised of quick-check questions, solo thinking, pair/ group discussions and deeper thinking activities. The extract needed is provided in both Word and PDF, and I’ve also a link to a web-based version of the poem on the first slide.
The session is tried and tested, and was initially delivered to children in years 4-5, however with only minor adaptations it would be accessible to slightly older and younger children.

Land Art/ Earth Art Project - Lesson 3 - Creating!
This engaging and purposeful series of lessons enables children to gradually develop towards creating their own land art/ Earth sculptures. The resources were originally created to guide children towards creating art in the school grounds and a local forest, but the resources can easily be adapted to fit your own particular local landscapes.
This third lesson helps children to:
-Revisit what land art is and understand its key features;
-Understand the key skills needed to create land art;
-Apply these skills to their own land art;
-Use llight and filters to capture their land art effectively.
The lesson follows an eye-catching and comprehensive 16-slide PowerPoint presentation. Children are taught the key creating skills that they will need to use in assembling their art piece. They are also taught about the basic photography/ edit features that they can use to enhance their artwork (the icons that they are taught are aligned with those that would be found on ipads and most other tablet/ digital camera devices).
These lessons were originally created for children in year 2, but may be adapted for slightly older and younger year groups.
Land Art/ Earth Art Project - Lesson 4 - Evaluating!
This engaging and purposeful series of lessons enables children to gradually develop towards creating their own land art/ Earth sculptures. This fourth and final lesson helps children to evaluate their land art through:
-Thinking about what they planned to achieve in my land art;
-Considering the process and outcome of my land art;
-Weighing up the strengths and development areas within my land art piece.

Easter Around the World - KS2 Whole Class Reading Comprehension Lesson!
This whole class reading session aims to develop children’s fluency and comprehension skills through reading about Easter traditions around the world. The text that they read is taken from an article that was featured in the evening standard (it has been provided in both PDF and Word for easy printing, but the link to the article on the website is also provided).
The reading is followed by a series of activities aiming to develop children’s VIPERS skills: vocabulary, inference, prediction, explanation, retrieval, sequencing and summarising. It also contains a vocabulary check immediately after the extract is read to clarify any unfamiliar/ difficult language. The tasks are comprised of quick-check questions, solo thinking, pair/ group discussions and deeper thinking activities.
The session is best suited for children in upper KS2, however it could easily be used with slightly older or younger children, depending upon the individual context of your class.

Stewart Island - Comprehension Activities Booklet!
This 16-page resource booklet contains a wide range of challenging and engaging comprehension activities for use throughout the reading of Fleur Adcock’s 'Stewart Island.’ They are perfect for aiding the progress of students learning poetry either in KS4 (or for higher attaining KS3 students) in preparation for poetry at GCSE, as the tasks draw on English Literature assessment objectives - suitable for all examining bodies - it is clearly highlighted within each task regarding which assessment strands the task is designed to demonstrate.
The booklet is provided in both Word (to allow for easy editing) and PDF (to ensure for consistency of formatting between computers).
Activities within the booklet include (amongst many others):
‘Analysing Context’ - helping students to ‘Show understanding of the relationships between texts and the contexts in which they were written.’
